Seeking the ideal vacation in between rich green valleys, noiseless tea estates and soothing sounds produced by the river? Then discover the hidden gem “Tabakoshi,” an undiscovered treasure of North Bengal. Tabakoshi is perfect for everyone whether you are a Nature lover or someone looking for a walk around Tea gardens or just want a place where you can just relax quietly. Here you will enjoy the beautiful sunrise views from the endless tea estates, quiet strolls around villages or some refreshing hikes which will rejuvenate your body completely.
The name ‘Tabakoshi’ has been derived from the Nepali language, ‘Tamba’ means ‘copper’ and ‘Koshi’ means a ‘river.’ The water of the beautiful Rangbhang river which runs through the Tabakoshi village remains clear for most of the year but as soon as the monsoon arrives it turns into a murkier copper colour. Therefore, the village obtained its name from this river which is known as Tabakoshi.

Therefore, this offbeat destination near Darjeeling is perfect for those who seek peace and serenity in nature. The picturesque tea gardens, the riverside culture, and the lifestyle are all quite interesting and a refreshing change from all the usual busy tourist hubs. Be it a solo trip or a romantic getaway with your partner, or a family vacation, Tabakoshi has you covered. In case one wants to get a break from the normal activities, then Tabakoshi will be perfect for just a day or two.
