  1. Ghoom Monastery (Yiga Choeling) – Established in 1850 by the Mongolian astrologer and monk Sokpo Sherab Gyatso, this is one of the oldest and most popular monasteries in the region. It is famous for its 15-foot high statue of the Maitreya Buddha.
