Places to visit in Murti

Gorumara National Park - This is one of the most famous (for Indian one horned Rhino) National Park in dooars region of Eastern Himalaya, West Bengal.

Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary - Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary is very nearer to Gorumara National Park. Chapramari is famous for a large number of Asiatic Elephants. This sanctuary is also full of fishes with water of 3 rivers – Teesta, Neora and Murti.

Murti River- Murti is one of the most beautiful and popular river in Dooars area near Lataguri. A large number of tourists come here to explore the beauty of this Murti river bank every year.

Samsing, Suntaleykhola and Rocky Island - These three places are at the same direction from Lataguri in Dooars area. These forest villages have their own beauty as they are located at the bank of river. Samsing is at the bank of Jaldhaka and Neora river. Suntaleykhola is an attractive forest village and you can find a hanging bridge over Murti river there. Rocky Island is also situated at the bank of river Murti and you will experience an amazing flavor of nature from this place.

Jhalong, Bindu and Jaldhaka - These three places are at the same direction from Lataguri  in Dooars area. Jhalong is famous for its natural beauty and Jaldhaka Hydel Project. Bindu is nearer to Jhalong and you can see some mountains of Bhutan from Bindu.

Forest Safaris by Gypsy – Gorumara Side

Gorumara offers two exciting types of forest safaris:

  1. Watch Tower Based Safari
    • The Gypsy takes you to specific watch towers where salt pits attract animals like elephants, rhinos, and deer.
    • Ideal for observing wildlife from a fixed, elevated point.
  2. Core Jungle Safari
    • A thrilling 15–16 km drive into the core jungle area.
    • You are not allowed to get off the vehicle, ensuring safety and minimal disturbance to wildlife.

  • A registered guide is mandatory with every vehicle

 

Elephant Safari – Gorumara Side (Dhupjora)

  •   Only one elephant safari route is available in Gorumara, and it's located in Dhupjora.
  •   One guide is mandatory per safari group.
  •   Tickets are issued one day before the safari date — advance booking is necessary.
  •   Cost: ₹1200 per person
  •   Tourists can drive to the Dhupjora Elephant Safari Point using their own vehicle or a rented one

General Safari Information 

  • The safari was earlier booked online but now it has become offline
  • The guest has to stand in a queue in front of the ticket counter to get a permit 
  • A Gypsy car can take up to 6 persons.
  • For all the safaris except Dhupjora Elephant safari a Guide is a must.
  • Tourist should carry 2-4 copies photo copies of identity card and also carry the original.
  • All safaris remain closed on Thursday across Dooars
  • From 15th June to 14th Sept all Safaris are closed.
