The Gypsy safari is the most popular way to explore Chilapata Forest. It is conducted in open jeeps, offering a raw and thrilling ride through the dense sal forests and wilderness trails.
● Duration: Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours
● Timings: Morning & Afternoon slots (subject to forest department regulations)
● Starting Point: The safari generally starts from Kodalbasti Forest Check Post, which is the main entry gate to Chilapata Forest.
● Booking Process: You can book safaris through the Chilapata Eco-tourism office or authorized forest counters near Kodalbasti. Advance booking is recommended during peak season.
Wildlife Sightings: Indian bison (gaur), wild elephants, barking deer, leopards (if lucky), and various species of birds and butterflies. The ancient Nalraja Garh (Nal King’s Fort) is also a major attraction along the route.
For a more immersive forest experience, Elephant Safari is offered in some parts of the Chilapata region (depending on forest department availability).
