Rishop

Rishyap or Rishop is a small hamlet in Kalimpong district of Eastern Himalaya region. Though it is neither a city nor a very new destination, still it is standing up with its very own natural beauty. People come here mainly to visit Mt. Khanchendzonga and to sense the elegance of the Himalayan village life along with nature. This village is an integral part of the famous Neora Valley at the foothill of Tiffindara. If the sky is clear, you can discover all these mountain peaks together – Mt. Kharg, Kokthang, Rathung, Kabru, Talung, Pandim, Khanchendzonga, Simvo, Narsingh and Mt. Siniolchu. So, this is the place for true nature lovers only, as you will not get any luxury like restaurants, shopping , food store etc. like city or town life. Any luxurious hotel or resort  in Rishop will not be found. You can stay in small hotels, resorts or homestays in Rishyap.

What to see in Rishop

Mountain Peaks: You can find a large number of Himalayan Mountain Peaks from Rishyap. From Left to right, you will discover the vast range of Mt. Kharg, Kokthang, Rathung, Kabru, Talung, Pandim, Kahnchendzonga, Simvo, Narsingh and Mt. Siniolchu.

Tifindara: Tifindara is a beautiful sunset point near Rishyap. From this place you can explore the vast range of The Great Himalaya.

Neora National Park: This well known National Park is situated at the confluence of West Bengal, Sikkim and Bhutan. There are a large number of flora and fauna you can find in Neora National Park.

Lava: Lava is the near most town of Rishyap. Lava monastery, a popular attraction in Lava, can be visited from Rishop. It is about 5.5 kilometers from Rishop to Lava by road.

Lolegaon: Lolegaon is another popular village near Rishyap. The natural beauty of this place is similar to Rishyap. It is about 51 kilometers from Rishyap to Lolegaon.

Pedong: Pedong is a small town near Rishyap. This place is situated on the way of Old Silk Route. If you want to spend your vacation in relaxing mood, you can choose Pedong to visit or stay.

 Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Rishop is from October to April, when the weather stays clear and the views are at their best. This quiet hill village is known for its direct views of Kanchenjunga from homestays and viewpoints. Winter offers the sharpest visibility, while spring brings fresh greenery. Monsoon makes the area lush but often covers the mountains with clouds.
