Mairung Gaon (also spelled Mayrong Gaon) is a quiet, off-the-beaten-path village in the Kalimpong district of West Bengal, nestled close to the Neora Valley National Park and surrounded by dense forests and hills. At an altitude of around 5,000 ft (≈1,500 m), the village is known for its lush greenery, fresh mountain air, and spectacular views of the Himalayan peaks — including Kanchenjunga, Nathula and the Sikkim hills on clear days.

By Air: Closest airport to Mairung Gaon is Pakyong Airport - Sikkim (57 KM) but flights are limited and less reliable which makes Bagdogra the most reliable and preferred airport for travelling to Mairung Gaon. 

By Train: The nearest major railway station to Mairung Gaon is NJP Station, located approximately 85-90 kilometers away. NJP is a major railway hub connected to cities like Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, and other parts of India. You have car booking options for reaching Kharka Gaon from the station in the mode of shared or private cabs. Homestays provide Pickup & Drop.

By Road:  If you are starting from Siliguri or NJP, which is approximately 80-90 kilometers away from Mairung Gaon, you can take a hired cab or a personal cab from Siliguri or NJP to Kalimpong and then from Kalimpong local market, you will get private cab to Mairung Gaon. The journey typically takes around 3.5 to 4 hours.
