How to reach Gorubathan

By Air: The nearest airport is Bagdogra Airport (IXB), located about 100 km from Gorubathan. It is well-connected to major Indian cities like Kolkata, Delhi, and Mumbai. After reaching Bagdogra, you can hire a cab or take a shared vehicle to reach Gorubathan comfortably.

By Train: The closest major railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), around 80 km away. NJP is a major junction with trains from across India. From the station, taxis and shared jeeps are available to take you to Gorubathan.

By Road: From Siliguri, take NH 27, then connect to NH 10 towards Kalimpong (approx. 70 km). From Kalimpong, continue along Relli Road for another 28 km to reach Gorubathan. The journey offers scenic views of tea gardens and hills, making it a refreshing drive.

 

Places to Visit in and Around Gorubathan

Dalim Fort: Perched atop a hill in Dalim Busty, this ruined fort was once built by King Gaeboo Achyok, a Lepcha ruler. To reach the fort, a short uphill trek is required. While the structure now lies in ruins, the panoramic view from the top makes the effort worthwhile.

Chel River (Chel Khola): This scenic riverside spot is one of the most peaceful places in Gorubathan. Loved by locals, Chel River offers a stress-free environment perfect for picnics, quiet walks, or simply enjoying the calming sound of the flowing water — especially stunning during monsoon.
