How to Reach Bijanbari

Several trains run daily from Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri. The most popular ones are the Darjeeling Mail and the Padatik Express.

Darjeeling Mail departs from Sealdah Station at around 10:05 PM and reaches NJP at approximately 8:00 AM the next day.

Subsequently if one is travelling via road from Kolkata then they have to take the NH12 towards Siliguri which is about 600 KM. From Siliguri take NH10 towards Darjeeling. Upon reaching Ghoom, take the diversion towards Bijanbari via Rohini Road or Jorebunglow.

The best time to visit Bijanbari is from October to April, when the weather stays clear and the valley is easy to explore. This small town sits along a river, with bridges, green slopes, and village life spread across both sides. You can walk down to the river, cross local bridges, and watch daily life move slowly around you. On clear days, distant views of Kanchenjunga may appear beyond the hills. Monsoon brings strong river flow and deep greenery but also heavy rain.
